Honey, Cinnamon, and Nutmeg Face Mask
Today, I thought I would recreate a pin I found for a honey, cinnamon, and nutmeg face mask. You can find the original pin here. What I love about this mask is that it is natural, simple, and you probably have all three ingredients in your cupboard right now.
For this mask, you will need:
- 2 Tablespoons honey
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon nutmeg
Mix these three ingredients together! We are looking for a thick paste-like consistency. If you need to add more cinnamon or nutmeg, add a little of each at a time until you create a thick, spreadable paste.
Next? Grab a flat foundation brush and paint the mixture right onto your skin, avoiding your eyes of course. If you don’t have a foundation brush, don’t sweat. A good ole plastic or butter knife will do just fine.
According to this pin, honey and nutmeg are natural anti-inflammatories. That means the honey and nutmeg will help reduce redness and swelling in the skin, which is something I’m always looking for as a girl with red-prone cheeks! Honey and nutmeg are also great for healing acne scars and preventing infection. An added bonus to this mask is that the cinnamon and nutmeg exfoliate your skin as you wash the mask away.
Once the mask has been applied, it’s time to let it work its magic for 30 minutes. Then, hop in the shower and rinse, rinse, rinse. While you rinse the mask away, rub the mask into your skin in a circular motion. This technique will really help grind that grit to remove dead skin cells for a deep exfoliation.
I ended up having to use a lot more cinnamon and nutmeg than the remedy called for to create a paste. Even then, the mask was a bit drippy after a few minutes. I had to improvise and create a bib with paper towels to catch the drips. I definitely recommend adding even more cinnamon and nutmeg to your mask.
Overall, though, I actually loved this mask. The smell is so amazing. I love the smell of cinnamon, and the good news is the smell lingers even after the mask is washed away. Yum! The mask washed away easily, and the exfoliation felt wonderful.
After washing away the face mask, I followed up with a moisturizer. You know what I noticed immediately? My skin felt phenomenal! Even as I
applied moisturizer, I could tell that my fingers were gliding across my skin. My skin was so soft! My fiance seemed to like it too, because he couldn’t stop kissing my cheeks and telling me they were softer than usual.
This one will definitely be added to the rotation of natural face masks!
